Strike Threat by Dundee Bus Drivers
31st January 2009
Bus services across Dundee could be hit after drivers voted to take strike action over pay.
The workplace ballot of National Express Dundee drivers is understood to have come out overwhelmingly in favour of industrial action. The timing of any planned walk-out and what effect it would have on bus services was not clear today.
However, it is not thought action is expected imminently.
The Telegraph contacted the Transport and General Workers Union branch within National Express Dundee for comment on the situation, but their request was referred to the union’s regional office.
No statement had been forthcoming from the union by the time the Telegraph went to Press.
Lawrence Davie, director of National Express Dundee, said, “Our doors are still open for talks and we are actively working with our union to resolve the dispute.”
